Objectives:
At the conclusion of this presentation, participants will be able to identify common cardiovascular conditions relevant to athletes; recognize red-flag symptoms and physical examination findings that warrant further cardiac evaluation; differentiate physiologic cardiac adaptations in athletes from pathologic cardiovascular findings; determine appropriate indications for ECG, echocardiography, exercise stress testing, ambulatory monitoring, and cardiology referral; apply current recommendations for sports participation and return-to-play in athletes with cardiovascular disease; and evaluate the role of the sports medicine physician and Athletic trainers in the prevention and management of sudden cardiac arrest in athletes.
