Beyond Assault Bikes- In Season Development for Long Term Rehabs
Provider Name: Training Room Education
Activity Type: On-Demand Activity
Description: Long-term rehabilitation does not have to mean putting athletic development on hold. This course explores how clinicians and performance professionals can move beyond traditional modified conditioning and use the rehabilitation period as an opportunity to maintain—and in some cases develop—the physical qualities that athletes need to perform. Participants will learn how to structure individualized conditioning sessions around injury and weight-bearing restrictions while targeting aerobic capacity, anaerobic qualities, power, speed, and movement demands. The course demonstrates how athletes can progress from non-weight-bearing and non-impact training toward increasingly complex weight-bearing, sprinting, change-of-direction, and sport-specific activities, while manipulating exercise intent, load, environment, and movement complexity. Practical examples from collegiate football illustrate how the “Pit” can become an integrated training environment where injured athletes continue to train like athletes, maintain accountability, and progressively prepare for the demands they will face when they return to practice and competition.
Objectives: 1) Learn how to structure reconditioning sessions conducive to speed and power development 2) Understand benefits of both aerobic and anaerobic conditioning for the sport of football 3) Learn exercises and drills to enhance performance during long term injury rehabs
