Load is NOT the Enemy- How to Manage Hamstring Load for RTP
Provider Name:
Training Room Education
Activity Type:
On-Demand Activity
Description:
Hamstring rehabilitation should not be built around avoiding load—it should be built around preparing the athlete to tolerate it. This course examines the demands placed on the hamstrings during high-speed running and uses those demands to work backward through the return-to-performance process. Participants will learn how to strategically manipulate loading magnitude, muscle length, contraction type, velocity, and volume to target specific adaptations throughout rehabilitation. The course explores early neural, metabolic, mechanical, structural, and movement-based loading strategies before progressing into acceleration, upright running, high-speed running, and maximal sprint exposure. Practical return-to-performance frameworks demonstr
ate how to organize and manage these loads over time, build durability through repeated exposures, and ultimately prepare athletes not simply to complete a practice or game, but to tolerate the repeated demands of training and competition. The goal is to help clinicians confidently match the right load, dose, and modality to the desired adaptation while progressively bridging the gap from rehabilitation to performance.
Objectives:
Re-Frame Load as the Solution, Not the Problem
Understand the Demands We Are Preparing For
Match the Right Load to the Right Adaptation
Bridge the Gap From Rehabilitation to Performance
