Fertility for Every Rehab Professional: Your Role in the Journey
Fertility for Every Rehab Professional: Your Role in the Journey
Provider Name:
MedBridge Education
Activity Type:
Single Occurrence Activity
Description:
One in six couples faces infertility, which means patients in your caseload are already navigating it, often silently. Yet most rehabilitation professionals were never taught where rehabilitation intersects with reproductive health, or what they can appropriately say and do when a patient trying to conceive is sitting in front of them.
This introductory webinar closes that gap. In sixty minutes, you will learn how movement, body composition, metabolic health, and stress influence fertility for patients of every gender; how to recognize common presentations such as PCOS and male-factor risk; and exactly where your scope ends and a referral begins. You will leave with a clear, evidence-based framework you can use right away—no specialty certification required.
Designed for PTs, PTAs, OTs, OTAs, and rehabilitation professionals across outpatient, orthopedic, neurologic, pelvic, and wellness settings, this session reveals the role you already hold in the fertility journey, and how to step into it with confidence
Objectives:
Recognize the basic physiology of conception and the primary female and male factors that contribute to infertility.
Identify modifiable lifestyle factors, including physical activity, body composition, metabolic health, and stress, that influence fertility across genders.
Recognize common clinical presentations, such as polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome (PMOS) and metabolic-related anovulation, that a generalist rehabilitation clinician may encounter.
Recognize how appropriately dosed exercise supports reproductive health and how excessive training load or low energy availability can impair it.
Summarize the relationship between male metabolic and lifestyle factors and semen quality and fertility outcomes.
Identify the rehabilitation clinician’s scope of practice and appropriate referral pathways within the fertility care team.
